Anthony Mackay : Painter

The Early Years

1965 - 1990

During the late 1960s and 1970s I painted in oils on board, exploring landscape in a semi-abstract way and laying down foundations for work which was to follow three decades later. Alongside this non-figurative work, I continued to sketch in soft and oil pastel on my extensive travels and later to develop ink drawing to a level where several books of them were published. During the 1980s this extended to pen and wash and eventually to full scale watercolour works.
